ABOUT US

A native of Portsmouth, Virginia, James Short graduated, cum laude, from the University of Richmond in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He received his law degree in 1986 from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary. After graduating, Mr. Short was admitted to the Virginia State Bar. He started his career as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Portsmouth and held that position for four years. He has been in private practice since 1991.

Mr. Short is a former prosecutor, which provides him with a unique perspective to assess your legal needs. He prides himself on being responsive to his client's needs. He wants to get to know his clients and build a long term relationship with them. As a result, his clients consistently refer their friends and business associates to him. When you set up a consultation, you will be meeting with Attorney Short and not a paralegal. He practices in all local state courts and handles criminal cases in federal court.
